Raise the Bar Competition 2024

Top international and local experts will choose the region’s best bartender

During the two-day Raise the Bar conference, taking place on March 19 and 20, an exciting competition will unfold at Zagreb’s Lauba art gallery. Talented bartenders hailing from Croatia, Slovenia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina will showcase their skills, and the ultimate winner not only secures the esteemed title of the region’s best bartender but also walks away with a prize of 10,000 euros and an unforgettable trip to Rome for the 2024 Roma Bar Show.

To register for the competition, fill out the registration form available via this link: link to the form no later than 11:59 p.m on Monday, March 11, 2024. All bartenders who wish to participate in the competition must design and submit a cocktail recipe along with a photo of themselves featuring the bottle and the cocktail, as well as a photo of the cocktail itself. Recipes have to include the name of the cocktail, the ingredients written with their full names, measurements, type of glass, decoration, and a detailed description of the cocktail preparation method. Detailed information on the application process can be found in the Rules and conditions of the competition.

The panel of judges will recreate the cocktails submitted by participants, relying on the provided recipes. Selected contestants will then face a series of challenges on Tuesday, March 19, at Lauba. These challenges are specifically designed to assess essential qualities for top-tier bartenders, including teamwork, creativity, adeptness in managing time constraints, proficiency in crafting classic cocktails, engaging in blind tasting, and demonstrating effective presentation skills.

The grand finale, set for Wednesday, March 20, will feature the top two contestants. These finalists will be determined by the expert jury’s assessments, based on their exceptional performance in the challenges and demonstration of the highest level of expertise. Detailed information on the conditions of participation in the Raise the Bar Competition can be found in the Rules and conditions of the competition.
