Raise the Bar Academy: Business expert

The Raise the Bar Academy: Business expert program is intended for professionals in the hospitality sector who have a vision for improving an existing  or have developed an idea for starting their own hospitality business.

Through classes within the Raise the Bar Academy: Business expert program, participants will have the opportunity to gain relevant knowledge and skills and create their own business plan with all the elements important for starting their own bar.

The program lasts 8 weeks and is divided into three educational units:

1. Theoretical classes with practical exercises, designed to develop the knowledge and skills needed to open and manage your own bar. Through the class, participants will work on their own business plan.

2. Specialized practical classes on the topic of advanced bar or barista techniques and advanced wine knowledge. All interested participants will be able to participate in the WSET II wine program, and when applying for the program, participants will be able to choose whether they want to develop their skills in advanced bar or barista techniques.

3. Mentoring with lecturers through which participants will finalize their business plan and potentially get the opportunity to present their plan to a group of investors. This presentation is an opportunity for participants to agree on cooperation to open their own bar.

The applications for the Raise the Bar Academy: Business expert start on December 5th and will be active until January 12 2026. The applications are available on the webpage.

• Minimum 2 years of experience in the hospitality industry
• Employment status in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and/or Slovenia
• Existing vision for starting your own bar or improving the bar where the candidate currently works

The selection of candidates will take place in several rounds:

• revision of the application form, motivation and written concept of own bar or improvement of the bar in which the candidates are employed
• Online interview
• test of general knowledge in the hospitality sector
• Given the field of interest for practical classes in the program, candidates will also select which specialized education interests them – coffee or mixology
• Final interview

The general knowledge exam will take place live, in the premises of the Raise the Bar Academy in the administration building of Coca-Cola HBC Croatia in Zagreb.
